A Little About Me

Sarah Alicia (Thomas) Elder began hairdressing in 2006 taking her training at Hair Art Academy finishing in 2007.  Working along side Stella and Kathy at In-Style Hair Studio she learned about running her own business and the ins and outs of a hair salon. Sarah then took business into her own hands and started creating a name for herself. Her work doesn't stop at the salon, working outside of the salon environment visiting hospitals, home visits and on site makeup and hair styling for photoshoots, weddings, graduations and special events.

Awards: 2016 Platnum Awards: Costumer service award

With her passion for hair Sarah also believes in natural beauty and environmentally friendly products. Using products that are environmentally aware, recyclable, and free of harmful additives. This can be a difficult challenge and unfortunately when it come to colour and bleach this can only go so far. Using Schwarzkopf's Essensity line because of the benefits of being closer to a green product but with results that my clients want. The colour formula they use are predominantly biodegradable, have raw materials which are synthesized from plant based materials using renewable sources. They avoid using aerosol applications and unnecessary folding boxes. As well the packaging materials that they use is 100% recyclable. Check out their website for more information:

On the side Sarah volunteers her time working with the local high school New Westminster Secondary with the Drama departments musicial productions and You Wear It Well grad event.

Participating in local events around the city like Sapperton Days and Spring Cleaning along side with Katie Marshall of Medical Esthetics By Katie; Sarah likes to interact with the locals and keep up with the ever growing community of New Westminster.

Sarah doesn't stop with just hair and makeup, she also knows her way around a sewing machine. Staring with small projects like pillows then moving up to making bags and purses, she now makes full dresses and wedding vials.  She has helped her brides out by custom making vials that fit with the hairstyle they choose for there weddings.  There has even been time where a "wedding911" has happened while the bride is getting ready and Sarah has stepped in to help fix falling apart dresses or even a hole in a vial. All her sewing ability's have been taught by her Grandmothers and mother as wells as self taught.
